Miłków (German: Mölke) is a settlement forming part of the village of Ludwikowice Kłodzkie in the administrative district of Gmina Nowa Ruda, within Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.[1]

Geography

Miłków is located in the Central Sudetes in the vicinity of the Owl Mountains. The settlement developed as a subsidiary locality of Ludwikowice Kłodzkie and historically formed part of the industrial and mining area of the Nowa Ruda coal basin.[2]

History

Miłków developed within the wider historical settlement of Ludwikowice Kłodzkie. The locality was historically connected with mining and industry in the Nowa Ruda coal basin.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the industrial colony of Mölke was associated with the Wenceslaus (Polish: Wacław) coal mine and related infrastructure, including a power plant known as Kraftwerk Mölke.[3]

During the Second World War, the area around Ludwikowice Kłodzkie hosted forced labour camps connected with German armaments production. According to the Gross-Rosen Museum, a subcamp of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp known as FAL Ludwigsdorf operated in the area from July 1944, preceded by an earlier forced labour camp established in June 1942.[4]
